Both “Trifles/A Jury of Her Peers” and “A Rose for Emily” feature of groups people reconstructing what they can know about a murder. In both cases, there is as much focus on why this happened as there is on what happened. How do the observers reach their unofficial verdicts in each story? Why do the women exonerate Mrs. Wright? What does the town ultimately decide or think about what Emily did?
